Psychology & Performance

The checklist for
the person in seat 0A.

Pilots often feel alone with what's in their head, worried about their medical and tired of explaining aviation to people who've never lived it. This practice was built to close exactly that gap: psychological coaching from someone who flies the line and studied the science.

PSY / 01

Aviation Psychology Consultation

A confidential space to talk about flying with someone who doesn't need the job explained.

Book this service

Who this is for

  • Pilots carrying stress, worry or self-doubt they don't discuss at work
  • Crew who want to understand their own reactions better
  • Aviation professionals at a personal or professional crossroads

What we work on

  • Whatever you bring: work, life, or the place where they collide
  • Making sense of pressure, fear and motivation in an aviation context
  • Deciding what to work on, and how

The session includes

  • A confidential one-to-one conversation
  • An informed outside perspective from inside the industry
  • A clear proposal for next steps: coaching, structure, or simply another session

How it works

The consultation is the usual starting point for psychological work. From there, you and Abdollah agree what would genuinely help. No pre-packaged programmes.

PSY / 02

Stress & Anxiety Management

Pressure is part of the job. Chronic stress and anxiety don't have to be.

Book this service

Who this is for

  • Pilots noticing stress, tension or anxiety building across a roster
  • Professionals whose sleep, mood or focus is paying the price
  • Anyone performing well outside while running hot inside

What we work on

  • How stress actually works, and where yours comes from
  • Practical regulation techniques that work in real schedules
  • Fatigue, sleep and recovery around duty and time zones
  • Early-warning signs and a personal response plan

The session includes

  • An honest assessment of your current load
  • Evidence-oriented tools, practised rather than just explained
  • A sustainable routine that survives contact with a roster

How it works

Usually a short cycle of sessions with practice in between, then check-ins at longer intervals as your own system takes over.

Pilot Mental Health & Wellbeing

Fear of losing the medical keeps too many pilots silent. Silence is the most expensive strategy there is.

Book this service

Who this is for

  • Pilots who feel alone with what's going on in their head
  • Crew worried about burnout, motivation or mood
  • Professionals who want to look after themselves before it becomes a problem

What we work on

  • Burnout: recognising it, preventing it, recovering from it
  • Loneliness and isolation in an aviation lifestyle
  • Motivation, meaning and the long arc of a flying career
  • Building a personal wellbeing system: sleep, recovery, boundaries

The session includes

  • A confidential, stigma-free conversation with an industry insider
  • Psychological coaching grounded in an MSc focused on pilot mental health
  • Clear signposting if what you need goes beyond coaching

How it works

This is coaching and consultation, not medical treatment, and that distinction is respected honestly, including telling you when clinical support would serve you better.

PSY / 04

Confidence & Performance Under Pressure

Skill you can't access under observation might as well not exist. Confidence is trainable.

Book this service

Who this is for

  • Pilots whose performance drops in checks, sims and interviews
  • Professionals dealing with imposter syndrome despite real competence
  • Anyone whose inner critic is louder than their training

What we work on

  • Performance anxiety and evaluation pressure
  • Imposter syndrome and self-talk that undermines execution
  • Pre-performance routines that hold up on the day
  • Rebuilding confidence after a failure or setback

The session includes

  • A precise picture of where and how confidence breaks down
  • Techniques from performance psychology, adapted to your context
  • A rehearsed plan for the next high-stakes moment

How it works

Often combined with airline interview or assessment preparation when there's a specific date on the calendar.

PSY / 05

Relationships & Emotional Regulation

Rosters, absence and fatigue put real strain on real relationships. Managing that is a skill, not luck.

Book this service

Who this is for

  • Pilots whose schedule is straining their relationship or family life
  • Crew who notice irritability or distance creeping in at home
  • Professionals who want steadier emotional responses, everywhere

What we work on

  • The aviation lifestyle and what it does to relationships
  • Emotional regulation: understanding and steering your reactions
  • Communication that works under fatigue and time pressure
  • Boundaries between duty and home

The session includes

  • A clear-eyed look at the patterns on both sides of the front door
  • Practical tools for regulation and communication
  • A plan you can actually keep to between trips

How it works

Sessions are individual. Where a topic would be better served by couples or clinical work, you'll be told directly and pointed the right way.

Important to know

Coaching, not clinical treatment

Abdollah's psychological work is coaching and consultation grounded in an MSc in psychology focused on pilot mental health. It is not psychotherapy or medical care, and it is not a substitute for the treatment of diagnosed conditions. If you are in immediate crisis, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line first, then get in touch.

Is what I say confidential? +

Yes. Sessions are private, one-to-one conversations. Nothing is shared with employers, training organisations or anyone else.

Will this affect my medical certificate? +

Coaching is not a medical process and involves no reporting. Questions about your medical certification itself belong with your AME, and if a topic touches that territory, you'll be told openly rather than strung along.

I'm not a pilot. Can I still work with Abdollah? +

Yes. The practice is built around aviation, but the work on stress, confidence, performance and relationships applies to any high-pressure professional life.
