About Abdollah

A career built at the intersection of aviation and psychology.

Not a psychologist who read about aviation. An aviation professional who went and studied the psychology properly, in parallel, over years.

The story

Two careers, flown in formation

Abdollah Mohammadpour was born in Iran, grew up in Dubai, and has been based in Europe since the age of eighteen. What drew him to flying was the machine, the sky and its scale. What kept him there was a realisation he has repeated ever since: flying is mostly a human problem in a technical costume.

So he refused to pick between his two interests. He attended flight school during the four years of his psychology bachelor's degree, with classes on weekdays and flights at weekends, and built both careers in parallel from the start.

The flying path led through three years as a flight instructor to chief pilot of Prague's largest flight training organisation, and into the flight deck of commercial airline operations. The academic path led to a master's degree in psychology, where he found the specialisation that connected everything: aviation psychology and pilot mental health.

The route so far

Flight log

Origins

Iran → Dubai → Europe

Born in Iran, raised in Dubai, and based in Europe from the age of eighteen, where both careers began.

Foundation

Psychology degree + flight school, in parallel

Four years of a psychology bachelor's degree combined with flight training: classes on weekdays, flying at weekends. Two disciplines, one timetable.

Instruction

Three years as a flight instructor

Teaching people to fly, and watching, student by student, how much of flight training is psychology wearing an aviation headset.

Leadership

Chief pilot, Prague's largest flight training organisation

Responsibility for training standards and for the people delivering them: the operational view of how pilots are made, and where they struggle.

Specialisation

MSc psychology, pilot mental health

A master's degree in psychology, and the discovery of aviation psychology as a field. The gap was obvious: pilots fear for their medical, feel alone, and can't easily explain their world to outsiders. He decided to become the insider they could talk to.

Today

Airline pilot & coach, half and half

Half of each month flying commercial airline operations; the other half coaching aviation professionals, from flight students to airline captains, on imposter syndrome, anxiety, exhaustion, relationships and performance.

The philosophy

Discipline for the mind, not just the machine

Abdollah's view of professionalism is simple: a professional pilot has an attitude of discipline, dedication and responsibility in addition to technical expertise. Technical knowledge gets checked every six months. The psychological side, stress management and resilience, is something nobody gives you. You have to build it yourself.

His work exists so that nobody has to build it alone. The methods are evidence-oriented, the goals are concrete, and the tone is the one professionals prefer: honest, calm, and free of hype.
